Verandah collapse in Fitzroy

MFB firefighters were called to assist after a verandah awning collapsed in Fitzroy just after 3am.

Upon arrival, crews found a small verandah awning of a single storey townhouse on George Street had collapsed and was resting on power lines.

Once the power was isolated crews worked quickly to remove the hazard and make the scene safe.

Thankfully there were no injuries.

Firefighters remained at the scene for approximately two hours.
