25 Nov 2015
A truck and trailer fire has closed the Monash Freeway to outbound lanes in Glen Waverley.

Crews were called to the scene at 1.49pm after motorists spotted fire and smoke pouring from the trailer, which contained rubbish and timber.

Firefighters emptied the contents of the trailer and utilised a bobcat to pull the debris apart.

This has now been fully extinguished and thermal imaging cameras used to ensure no hot spots.

The driver managed to escape without injury.

MFB Commander Bruce Pickthall said firefighters hoped to have the scene cleared by 4pm before peak hour hits.
