21 Nov 2018
An automatic alarm alerted firefighters to a fire at a warehouse on Paramount Road in Tottenham just before 1pm this afternoon.

On arrival MFB firefighters wearing breathing apparatus investigated and found a fire had taken hold of numerous cotton bales being stored at the factory.

Thankfully, the fire had been contained by the working sprinkler system at the premises.

Firefighters used forklifts to remove cotton bales and get access to the seat of the fire.

Thanks to the quick work of approximately 30 firefighters, the fire was declared under control at 1:29pm, less than 20 minutes after initial crews arrived on scene.

There are no reported injuries, and at this stage the cause of the fire is not yet known.

While the fire has been extinguished, it is expected crews will remain on scene for some time.
