Toorak house blaze.

The blaze started in the theatre room located towards the rear of the three level home and raced up through a wall cavity to the roof.

Address: Hopetoun Road, Toorak.

The owner had been using the room to watch a football match when he noticed smoke and sparks coming from behind the television.  Within minutes, the fire had spread up to the roof and was threatening other parts of the house.  

Firefighters used hydraulic platforms to direct powerful water sprays directly into the roof structure and brought the blaze under control in just over an hour. 

Damage was contained to less than half of the roof along with some heat, smoke and water damage to rooms located below.

All occupants of the house managed to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

A specialist investigator will attend in the morning to determine the exact cause of the fire.
