MFB firefighters have made quick work of a fire which ripped through a house in Ashwood this morning.

Crews were called to the Salisbury Street address just after 11.45am after an occupant of the house raised the alarm after spotting flames coming from the bathroom.

Three people evacuated the home as the blaze quickly spread throughout the property.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus attacked the fire and managed to get it under control in 17 minutes.

A tradesperson working at the property has sustained injuries and was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics.

The cause of the incident will be investigated.
