Three injured as van smashes into Thai restaurant

Diners were lucky to escape serious injury after a van drove through the front window of a Laverton restaurant.

On Friday June 21 at 10:19pm, MFB firefighters arrived at the Fresh Chilli Thai Restaurantwith specialist heavy rescue operators.

The van had penetrated the large glass window, hitting and injuring three patrons.

Extensive damage has also occurred to the furniture within the restaurant.

MFB firefighters assessed the structural damage and ensured further safety of the structure. 

Three middle aged patrons were transported to hospital with various injuries.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Three appliances and ten firefighters attended the incident.
