MFB firefighters were able to contain a fire from spreading after it took hold of a home in Tullamarine on Tuesday night.

Crews were alerted to the property on Broadmeadows Rd after a number of Triple Zero (000) callers sighted flames from the house just after 8:15pm.

The first firefighting appliance arrived within five minutes to find the single storey house fully alight.

Firefighters donned in breathing apparatus conducted a search of the home and confirmed that no one was inside.

Crews then turned their efforts to extinguish the blaze and quickly brought the fire under control in less than 30 minutes.

MFB firefighters determined that the cause of the fire was suspicious in nature and the scene has been handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.
