Suspicious house fire in Kingsbury

A police officer and a neighbour alerted firefighters to a vacant house that caught fire in Kingsbury overnight.

Initial crews arrived to the house on Plenty Road at 4:12am to find a single storey house fully consumed by fire.

More than 20 firefighters attacked the blaze from the outside. The fire caused extensive damage including the roof collapsing.

The incident was declared under control after 30 minutes.

At the height of the blaze there were 10 firefighting appliances at the scene including a commander unit.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and has been handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation.
