It took less than 15 minutes for MFB firefighters to control a fire that broke out in West Footscray just after 1:30am this morning.

More than 25 firefighters arrived to the property on Essex St following a number of Triple Zero (000) calls.

The fire was located in the rear of the structure and crews immediately commenced an aggressive attack on the blaze in an effort to protect the surrounding homes. A number of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered through the front of the property to contain the fire.

Thankfully there are no reported injuries.

Victoria Police are investigating due to suspicious circumstances.
