Suspected chemical leak forces evacaution at Aldi warehouse

Building evacuated and firefighters currently investigating

MFB crews received calls to a hazmat incident at Aldi Warehouse in Derrimut just before 10am.

The warehouse, on Swann Drive, has been evacuated as a precaution, and firefighters in breathing apparatus are currently investigating the source of the leak.

The substance is believed to be ammonia and Ambulance Victoria is on scene to treat potential patients.

Crews are expected to be on scene for some time.
