St Albans shed fire quickly under control

MFB firefighters have limited the damage to surrounding homes after a shed caught fire in St Albans.

Crews were alerted to the incident on Andrea Street at 4:22pm following reports black smoke and flames issuing from the property.

When firefighters arrived to the scene just minutes after the initial Triple Zero (000) call, the flames had engulfed the shed and the fire was threatening surrounding houses.

Crews managed to knock down the fire before it overtook the main house and the house next door.

Their efforts ensured the fire was brought under control within 25 minutes.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire.

The exact cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

More than 25 firefighters, nine appliances and one rescue unit were responded to the incident.
