St Albans blaze under control within half an hour

More than 30 firefighters were called to Gooding Street in St Albans after a unit caught fire on Friday afternoon.

Multiple callers to Triple Zero (000) advised there was smoke coming from a unit located in a block of eight just before 3:30pm.

Firefighters arrived to the scene in nine minutes to find the unit well alight and worked quickly to attack the blaze.

Fortunately all occupants had evacuated before firefighters arrived and the fire was brought under control after 21 minutes.

One of the adjoining units sustained damage in the fire.  

One occupant was treated by Ambulance Victoria.
