Southbank fire extinguished

MFB firefighters have extinguished a fire which broke out inside a vacant property in Southbank this afternoon.

Crews were called to the address on the corner of Hancock and Clarke streets about 12.15pm.

Firefighters arrived promptly and extricated two people from the roof of the premises and extinguished the fire which tore through several matresses and rubbish inside the rear section of the building.

Crews then ventilated the building to clear out the smoke.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated several people for injuries.

The fire is believed to be suspicious and Victoria Police is investigating.
