02 Oct 2019
MFB crews are currently on scene in Glen Waverley responding to a gas leak.

It’s believed workers cutting through a concrete slab in Glenway Arcade ruptured a high pressure gas main about 10am.

Firefighters are dispersing the gas cloud with water sprays and monitoring the gas levels while they work to remove the concrete and access the gas main.

Workers and patrons of surrounding businesses have been evacuated as a precaution.

Victoria Police will remain on scene to coordinate evacuations and traffic control.

This is expected to be a protracted incident and community members are advised to avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed.
