Shop fire in Clayton

Crews were called to a shop fire on Clayton Rd in Clayton at 12:33am this morning.

Firefighters arrived on scene in four minutes to find the 20 by 10 metre timber and brick shop well alight.

Crews in Breathing Apparatus conducted an internal search and found no occupants inside.

Firefighters worked hard to stop the spread of the fire from the rear of the premises to the rest of the building and other structures.

The blaze was declared under control within 33 minutes.

Crews blacked out hot spots to assess the damage using thermal imaging cameras.

The cause of the fire is yet to the determined and fire investigators will attend.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria crews also assisted on scene.
