A number of nearby residents raised the alarm after a shed caught fire in Reservoir on Tuesday evening.

Several Triple Zero (000) calls were received just after 7pm reporting flames and smoke issuing from a shed on Kirby St and threatening surrounding properties.

Crews arrived in just over six minutes and found the shed completely engulfed by fire.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze and the incident was declared under control in less than 15 minutes.

The shed suffered extensive damage but thankfully the surrounding properties were unscathed by the fire.

Firefighters are expected to remain on scene for some time to extinguish any hot spots and determine the cause of the blaze.

One person sustained injuries and was treated by Ambulance Victoria.
