A man has escaped without injury following a fire at a Braybrook home early this morning.

Crews were called to the Marnoo Street property at 6.46am after reports of smoke and flames.

On arrival they found the single-storey property fully alight. It was deemed under control at 7.09am.

Firefighters carried out a search to double check no one was inside. The single male resident had already evacuated prior to MFB's arrival.

The fire has destroyed half the home and council will attend today to determine the integrity of the property.

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom.
