Sandringham house fire

back to list
21 Mar 2019
MFB firefighters are currently on scene in Sandringham where a house fire has broken out.

Crews were called to Bamfield Street at 1pm following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls for a large house fire.

Firefighters took steps to protect neighbouring buildings while attacking the flames.

They searched the house but luckily no one was home at the time.

Students from a nearby primary school were directed to take shelter within their building due to thick smoke in the area.

The smoke has since cleared.

It took 24 firefighters approximately 40 minutes to get the blaze under control.

It's believed the fire began in the roof space and MFB Fire Investigators will investigate the cause of the incident.
