Restaurant fire in Preston.

back to list
03 Jul 2012
The restaurant was heavily smoke logged making it difficult for MFB firefighters to locate the source of the fire.

The fire in the single storey building took thirty minutes to bring under control. No injuries were recorded as the premise was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The cause of the blaze will be investigated in daylight hours but it appears to have started and been confined to the rear of the premises away from the kitchen area.

Local council health inspectors have been notified to attend as food may have been contaminated in the restaurant and an adjoining supermarket. The building inspector will also need to attend to check the structural integrity of the building.

The damage bill has been estimated at one hundred thousand dollars.
