Approximately 30 MFB firefighters responded to a fire at a restaurant in Camberwell, after receiving several Triple Zero (000) calls just after 11pm on Saturday night.

The first crew arrived on scene in 5.5 minutes and found flames coming from the roof with fire on both floors of the double storey building.

Thankfully, the occupants had self-evacuated before MFB arrived.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to knock down the majority of the fire quickly and remained on scene extinguishing hot spots for some time.

The fire was deemed under control at 12:19am and the cause will be investigated by MFB Fire Investigators this morning.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police were also on scene assisting.
