More than 25 firefighters were responded after a fire broke out at a Hampton East restaurant this morning.

Crews were alerted to the property on South Rd just after 8am following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls.

Firefighters arrived within four minutes and were met with smoke issuing from the single story building. Crews in breathing apparatus made their way inside and located the fire in a bedroom at the rear of the premises.

Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading and the incident was declared under control in less than an hour.

Two occupants evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival and one person was treated by Paramedics.

MFB’s specialist Fire Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the blaze.
