Resident arrives home to find Williamstown bedroom ablaze

Firefighters have contained a fire to a bedroom in a Williamstown apartment overnight.

MFB crews responded to calls of smoke issung from the second floor of a 10 by 10 metre building Nelson Place at 11.19pm.

Additonal resources were requested by first arriving crews.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters gained access to the second floor and contained the fire to a bedroom. Smoke damage has affected the remainder of the second floor.

The resident who placed the Triple Zero call had returned home to find the bedroom ablaze.

The fire was deemed under control in 40 minutes with crews remaining on scene overnight until MFB fire investigators attend to determine a cause.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victorian attended. 

Seven fire trucks and 20 firefighters attended.
