31 Dec 2018
MFB crews worked quickly to extinguish a house fire that broke out in Reservoir just after 6pm this evening.

Firefighters arrived at the single story brick veneer home on Henderson St in four minutes and were met with flames and smoke issuing from the windows and roof. The fire was also threatening neighbouring properties.

More than 20 firefighters in breathing apparatus worked quickly to limit the damage to the one property and brought the fire under control in just over 20 minutes. Asbestos was identified and decontamination procedures have been implemented.

Henderson Road and Hughes Parade are closed off to traffic. The community is advised to avoid the area as crews are expected to be at the scene for some time.

There was no one home at the time of the fire and there are no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
