21 Jan 2020
MFB crews have responded to a Queen Street building, following a Triple Zero (000) call just before 6:30am.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke issuing from the two-storey CBD building.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered through a roller door and quickly located the fire on the ground floor.

Firefighters began to attack the blaze internally, to contain it to the building.

Thanks to the quick work of MFB crews, the fire was declared under control 21 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.

Crews have completed an initial search of the property for occupants and believe it is vacant.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

MFB crews remain on scene ventilating the property, and Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police are also on scene assisting.

At the height of the incident there were approximately 30 firefighters and eight firefighting appliances on scene.
