A Best Practice Management Model for Protective Action Decision-Making has been developed by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Country Fire Authority, Department of Health and the West Australian ChemCentre.
This management model incorporates a review of world’s best practice in this area, including scientific research to validate that shelter-in-place (i.e. to take shelter in your home) can provide temporary community protection from events (e.g. fire, chemical spill) causing hazardous outdoor conditions.
