Electric Radiators and Portable Heaters

“As people get older they tend to feel the cold more, hence there is an increased reliance on electric radiators and portable heaters”.

Listed below are some safety tips for your new heater.

  • Clothes, linen and other combustibles should be at least one (1) metre from all heaters.
  • Never leave heaters on when you leave the house or go to bed. Ensure the electrical cords are not crossing the front of the heater and are not run under carpets or rugs.
  • Never operate electric heaters in damp or wet areas.
  • Ensure there is space between portable heaters and the wall. “Space heaters need space”.
  • Never leave young children unsupervised near heaters.
  • Keep children’s toys, especially those made of plastic, away from heat sources. They produce think, black, toxic smoke while burning.
