MFB firefighters responded to a garage fire in Prahran after Triple Zero (000) callers reporting hearing explosions just after 10:30pm on Monday night.

MFB crews arrived on scene within five minutes to find smoke billowing from the garage.

Firefighters gained entry through the roller door to start attacking the fire and managed to contain it after 24 minutes.

The house sustained smoke damage and it is believed the fire started due to an electrical fault.

MFB crews remained on scene until the fire-affected areas cooled down and the scene was made safe.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also on scene assisting.
