A popular children’s playground in Braybrook has been torched overnight.

Firefighters were called to the wooden playground on Churchill Avenue at 9.35pm last night.

The playground is home to a large wooden aeroplane, measuring 10 by five metres and was fully aflame when crews arrived.

A large crowd gathered to watch as firefighters did their best to save the playground, but unfortunately it has been destroyed.

It was deemed under control at 9.44pm.

The call has been deemed suspicious and police are investigating. The scene has been taped off and no public access will be allowed.

Two fire trucks and eight firefighters attended the blaze.
