16 Apr 2020
Approximately 30 firefighters responded to a fire that broke out in a nine storey building on Wednesday night.

Crews were called to the building on Little Collins Street just after 10pm following a number of Triple Zero (000) calls reporting flames and smoke issuing from the second floor.

Once on scene, firefighters made their way into the building donned in breathing apparatus and located an air conditioning unit that had caught alight in an office.

The building’s sprinkler system also activated and partially doused the fire. Crews successfully extinguished the fire and the incident was declared under control in less than 20 minutes.

There was no one working in the office at the time. A number of people were evacuated from the building and thankfully there were no reported injuries.
