No working smoke alarms in house fire

Numerous triple zero calls were received for this fire in Mansield Avenue, Sunshine North

On arrival, firefighters were confronted with a fire in the rear section of a single storey, 14 square, weatherboard house.

The fire was been contained to the laundry area and beneath the wooden floorboards.
The laundry area has been severely damaged by fire while a portion of the remainder of the premises has been damaged by smoke.

The female occupant of the premises escaped uninjured from the burning house.
Eight MFB appliances attended the fire, which caused an estimated $20-30,000 damage.
