Major traffic delays after truck fire on the Monash Freeway this morning.

Firefighters are responding to a truck fire on the Monash Fwy.

Crews were called to the scene at 6.50am, near the intersection of Springvale Road in Mulgrave.

The truck driver noticed the cabin of his vehicle was on fire and managed to pull his semi-trailer to the side of the road. He escaped safely before the fire took hold and the fire consumed the whole cabin.

The truck is carrying refridgerated food stuffs.

Five fire trucks are on scene, and the Monash has been blocked inbound as a result of the blaze.

Police are managing traffic and its hoped to have the road reopened as soon as possible, however there will be a major impact on morning traffic.
