Traffic delays after suspicious grassfire forces closure of Princes Fwy in Altona North

MFB is currently attending to a large grass fire in Altona North.

Firefighters were called to the incident at 2.45pm after the blaze started in a paddock along the Kororoit Creek Road.

The fire jumped the freeway and police closed it to traffic while fire crews brought the fire under control. It was offically deemed under control at 3.51pm.

MFB and CFA crews have worked together battling this blaze in hot and windy conditions.

The general public is advised to avoid the area.

A community warning has been issued for smoke in the area.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
