A large amount of black smoke was emanating from the Epping factory roof, as MFB and CFA firefighters arrived on scene.

The fire appears to have started in the office area of the brick factory and quickly spread to the rest of the building.
The damage bill is estimated at two hundred thousand dollars and no injuries were recorded as no one was in the factory at the time of the fire.
The blaze was brought under control in thirty minutes but a watching duty will continue, damping down hotspots before specialist investigators determine the cause in the morning.
The factory contained earthenware products.
