An early morning fire destroyed the upper floor of a two storey house in Black Rock.

Smoke alarms operated alerting the family of four to the fire and allowing them to safely evacuate the house.
The fire was so intense; part of the top floor has collapsed into the ground floor.
The fire took 40 minutes to bring under control and the damage has been estimated at more than $150,000.
The cause is being investigated.
