MFB crews have stopped a house fire in Jacana from spreading to nearby properties.

Firefighters were called to the property on Sunset Bvd just before 9pm last night.

First arriving crews called for additional resources as they battled to contain the fire to the rear of the dwelling which also threatened to spread to adjoining properties.

The fire was under control in 20 minutes with the fire contained to two rooms and the adjacent roof space of the 10 square home.

The occupants had evacuated before MFB crews arrived however a 65yo female was treated by Ambulance Victoria for burns to the hands before being transported to hospital.

The cause of the fire has been determined as a candle overturning.

Victoria police and Ambulance Victoria also assisted at the scene.
