28 Mar 2020
Approximately 30 firefighters responded to Mackenzie Street in Brunswick overnight, following several Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a house on fire shortly before 12:30am.

MFB crews arrived on scene within six minutes to find a single story weatherboard house well involved in the fire, threatening neighbouring properties and power lines.

Firefighters commenced an external attack on the fire from the front and rear of the property, protecting houses either side of the building.

Crews conducted a search of the house to ensure no one was inside.

Thanks to the quick work of fire crews, the blaze was declared under control less than 30 minutes after firefighters arrived at the scene.

At the height of the incident there were five firefighting appliances on scene, along with an aerial appliance, a rescue appliance, and a command unit.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria assisted at the scene.
