MFB Firefighters arrived on scene to find the two storey gymnasium fully engulfed in fire.
A nearby three storey wing of the school was threatened and an aggressive firefighting attack was undertaken to protect this building.
The fire took over an hour to bring under control and MFB Firefighters will be on scene throughout the morning to continue to extinguish this large fire.
One firefighter sustained minor cuts and bruising and was treated on scene by paramedics.
Whilst the gymnasium has been severely damaged by fire, Assistance Chief Fire Officer Alan Quinton has praised the efforts of the MFB Firefighters in averting the spread of fire.
The fire has been deemed of a suspicious nature and police have been informed.
Approximately 55 firefighters attended the blaze.
