Couple lucky to escape blazing home
The fire yesterday afternoon started in a rear shed that was semi-attached to the house and then quickly spread in to the kitchen and the roof area of the single storey weatherboard dwelling.
The home was fitted with working smoke alarms but they did not operate as the fire was above them with the smoke travelling upwards away from them.
The damage bill has been estimated at $200,000 and no injuries were recorded.
A watching duty continued into the night wetting down hotspots.
The fire took the 25 MFB firefighters 25 minutes to bring under control.
