House alight in Sunshine North

More than 20 firefighters have responded to a fire on Fawcett Street in Sunshine North after a house caught alight.

MFB crews arrived at the scene just before 10:20am to find the rear of the property engulfed in flames and smoke and requested additional resources.

Wearing breathing apparatus for protection, firefighters entered the burning structure to conduct an internal search for occupants. 

Thankfully, no one was found inside and everyone was accounted for.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for some time to ensure the fire is completely extinguished.

The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
