More than 20 MFB firefighters responded to reports of flooding at an apartment building in Therry Street in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.

Crews arrived shortly after 6am to find a hot water service pipe had burst on the 19th floor of the building, resulting in significant flooding.

MFB Heavy Rescue crews worked quickly to shut off the water supply before working to remove water from the flooded floors.

Four floors of the building were evacuated. It is believed most residents will be able to return to their homes shortly.

The scene has been declared under control and was handed to building management shortly after 7am.

No injuries have been reported.

Victoria Police are on scene assisting.
