At the height of the blaze firefighters managed to rescue two small dogs from the premises uninjured.
Several calls were received for the fire at the semi- detached house in Ascot Vale. The fire started in the laundry area which suffered extensive fire damage.
Smoke alarms were fitted to the premises and the fire was bought under control in 6 minutes with breathing apparatus in operation.
The MFB Fire Investigation Unit will attend to establish a cause..
