MFB launches new website

The MFB’s website (, which averages more than 45,000 visits a month, has undergone a redevelopment.

The new website will enable the public to easily access information about fire incidents, safety and prevention.

An important element of the new website is the major incidents map, which allows the public to access real time information and view the location of fires and other emergencies occurring in the metropolitan fire district.

Features of the new website include community safety information, up-to-date news for the media and access to total fire ban updates.

The new website will be another medium the MFB will utilise to push its safety messages to the community. For the first time, the MFB is targeting speakers of 10 languages other than English. The first phase is to introduce the translations, then the most important messages on the site will be translated also.

MFB CEO Ken Latta said that the website redesign will ensure that the organisation communicates more effectively with the community that it serves.

“The design has been overhauled and the content has been rewritten to ensure simplicity and user-friendliness.

“We are also responding to the needs of Melbourne’s diverse community by incorporating emergency information in several different languages,” he said.

Mr Latta said that the new look, contemporary website reflects the ways in which the organisation is developing.

“In addition to the new website, we have also recently launched our new range of personal protective clothing in order to ensure the continued safety of our operations workforce,” he said.
