MFB firefighters tackle unit fire in Balaclava

Over twenty five firefighters and seven appliances on scene

At 4.15pm today MFB received a fire call to a building fire in Hotham Street.

Arriving on scene in four minutes firefighters found the ground floor apartment well alight.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze and brought the fire under control at 4.37pm.

Police are on scene to direct traffic and motorists are requested to avoid the area.
