MFB firefighters rescue person from restaurant fire

Fire is now under control

Just after 5am today MFB received a fire call to a restaurant fire in Lygon Street.

Arriving on scene within five minutes they sighted smoke billowing from a window on the second floor of the Cosentino restaurant.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus forced entry to the building and tackled the fire in the kitchen area to the rear of the building.

A 25 year old female was rescued from the premises by firefighters and was attended to by Ambulance Victoria who are on scene. 

The fire was quickly brought under control by the 20 firefighters and six appliances.

MFB will remain on scene for some time.
