MFB crews have responded to a garage fire underneath a house in Heathmont, following several Triple Zero (000) calls just after 1:40pm.

Approximately 30 firefighters responded to the Great Ryrie Street address, where a significant amount of smoke was issuing from the property.

Firefighters arrived on scene within 6 minutes and conducted an internal search of the home for occupants.

Fortunately all residents had safely self-evacuated via the backyard prior to MFB’s arrival on scene.

Specialist Heavy Rescue Technicians were required to cut a hole in the garage door to enable crews to access the fire and commence firefighting efforts.

The fire was deemed under control less than 30 minutes after MFB’s arrival on scene.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, however investigations will commence once the fire is completely extinguished.

MFB is being supported at the scene by CFA, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria crews.
