Linen fire at CBD hotel

Firefighters were called to the building on Russel Street at 10:40am after the fire alarm was activated.

The fire was quickly located in the basement of the building and was extinguished by crews within minutes. 

A number of people were safely evacuated. The building was smoke logged and crews remained at the scene until the affected area was fully ventilated. 

There were suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and Victoria Police will investigate.
