Large fire on Maroondah Hwy Croydon.

MFB crews from Ringwood & Croydon as well as local CFA Brigades worked to extinguish the fire in the large partly derelict complex.

Given its extent many calls were received from 000 callers. The smoke was covering the Highway when initial crews arrived.

The fire in the disused area which is some 150m x 50m involved small structures which included: shade houses, glass houses and small buildings. Also involved were plastic plant pots and timber products. No adjoining properties were damaged.

The MFB will be involved for many hours ensuring fire is completely extinguished. Breathing Apparatus was used by MFB & CFA crews, and specialist support attended to replenish the sets.

No cause has been determined nor an estimate of damage available. 

An MFB firefighter was treated at the scene for dehydrationand was transported to hospital for a check up.
