Large factory fire in Campbellfield

MFB firefighters are currently in Campbellfield battling a large factory fire.

Crews were called to the Thornycroft Street premises about 6.40am after flames and smoke were spotted and explosions heard.

Initial crews arrived to find the factory ablaze and quickly called for reinforcements.

There are currently approximately 80 firefighters on scene battling the blaze.

It’s believed about 30 people self evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival.

The cause of the fire has yet to be established and MFB Fire Investigators are on scene.

Emergency services are expected to be conducting their operations for some time and community members are advised to avoid the area if possible.

If affected by smoke, close windows and doors, turn off heating and cooling and seek medical advice.
