More than two dozen firefighters were called to a fire that took hold of a Lalor home on Saturday evening.

MFB firefighters were alerted to the property at Paschke Cr at 5:42pm following reports of smoke and flames by a neighbour.

Upon arrival crews located the fire in a bedroom of the single storey home with flames extending into the roof space. It was not known if anyone was home at the time and firefighters conducted an extensive search of the premises.

Thankfully one woman and two children evacuated prior to MFB’s arrival. One person was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus conducted an internal and external attack on the blaze and their swift efforts prevented the fire from engulfing the rest of the home. The fire was declared under control after 21 minutes.

It is not known what cause the blaze and the incident will be investigated.

CFA firefighters, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also assisted at the scene.
