A fire that broke out in the rear of a Kings Park home has been extinguished by firefighters.

MFB crews were called to the single storey property on Timothy Court at 4:42pm after a Triple Zero (000) caller sighted black smoke coming from the property.

More than 25 firefighters worked to stop the fire from overtaking the rest of the home. The damage was contained to a pergola at the back of the property.

Their efforts ensured the fire was brought under control in 20 minutes.

Thankfully, no one was home at the time.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
